. . . changing seasons . . .

sometimes i like to pretend i can do it all

that it isn’t ever too much

i think i tell myself that lie . . . and believe it

until it is too much

until i can’t do it all

don’t get me wrong, i am superwoman . . . i can wash dishes and fold the laundry with the best of them – i can whip out a wedding album in no time – i can get places on time – schedules for 8 people?  no problem!

unfortunately, even my superwoman outfit can get a little tattered and dirty

in fact, over the past 6 weeks or so, it has been at the cleaners . . . slowly getting patched up, taken in, and spot cleaned . . .

it is at these times (when my superwoman outfit is missing) that i remember . . .

i can’t do it all. . . and do it all well.

this past summer, stefan was home to help – i began to believe i could do it all, and when he and the kids went back to work, and i was thrown back into full-time motherhood and homemaker and business person and creative thinker and friend and photographer and  . . . and all without my hot superwoman outfit . . . well, i have gotten a little overwhelmed.

as far as my children go . . . there is so much to share.  kids getting bigger, learning new things.  dance.  football.  swimming lessons. first birthday.

as far as life goes . . . there is so much to share.  time goes too fast.

as far as my heart?  my soul?  what is going on in my mind?  there is so much to share. . . i think, though, that i am having a hard time grasping everything at this moment.  it is difficult to formulate a thought because there is so much swirling around me – which is maybe why i haven’t “blogged” lately . . . what do think about the images before me?  how can i share when i don’t even know?

as far as photography goes . . .THERE IS SO MUCH TO SHARE.  there have not been a lack of pictures taken!  slowly, over the next months, i hope to share some of the amazing stories that i have had the honor of capturing through the lens of my camera.

Meet Mason and Ruth.

~

I only first met Ruth that day.  The day of her wedding.  We had corresponded  A LOT via phone and e-mail, and I think we were both so excited to finally meet one another.

Every wedding has a timeline – or at least a general idea of when things are going to happen.  If  the wedding starts at 2:00 p.m., brides usually begin getting ready around 10:00 am.  Giggling with bridesmaids, putting on makeup, pictures – that all falls in the general timeline before the ceremony.

~

Every bride has an idea of how her day will go . . . it usually goes a little differently.

Ruth.  Ruth and Mason chose a beautiful little white church  . . .in very very small town Montana.  They chose a church where the only the pastor and the woman in charge of the quilters guild and cleaning days had a key.  Of course, though, it would be NO PROBLEM to have  the church unlocked for their ceremony – in time for them to get ready . . .

Not always does everything go as planned.  Sometimes brides need to improvise.

I walked away from their wedding with quite a bit to ponder.  Even through Ruth’s wedding day timeline didn’t go exactly how she had planned in her mind, it didn’t matter.  At the end of the day she was crawling into bed with her husband . . . and Mason with his wife.  So many times, I get wrapped up in the small details of life, and don’t really allow for room to really enjoy the moments that I am in.  Not Ruth.  She just went with the flow.  And even though there was a moment when I think I saw a tear of frustration  in her eye, she didn’t let it fall, because it was at that moment Mason arrived to the church.  It was at that moment that he became her strength.  It was in that moment, that he became her husband – helping to provide her with exactly what she needed to enjoy the moment.  In the end, the day might not go exactly as you planned in your head.  In the end, though, the result is the same – you are married.

Ruth and Mason had so many fabulous, fabulous details at their wedding!  Everything coordinated perfectly.  It was beautiful.  They are beautiful.  In the end, the day might not go exactly as you planned in your head.  In the end though, the result is the same . . . you are married.  Congratulations Ruth and Mason.  It was my complete joy to be a part of your wedding day story.
