Together Jade and Angie have been creating timeless pieces of handcrafted jewelry for over 20 years. The journey began years ago when Angie took a class on the art of lamp-working. Fascinated by what she had learned, Angie began to teach the art to her daughter, Jade, who quickly fell in love with the process. What started as a curiosity naturally grew into a small business enterprise for these creative and passionate artisans. Jade and Angie love to make women feel beautiful and credit their success to “the incredible women in our corner who drive us and inspire us every day.”
Jade and her husband, Goldie, moved to the valley 12 years ago and began raising a family. They have three children, 10-year old Jaysha, and 7-year old twins, Niko and Tayo. Jade describes the family as “LOUD and busy, full of love and laughter.” Jade and Goldie are former athletes who enjoy being active, and the children have followed in their mother and father’s footsteps. Jaysha is a passionate and talented gymnast, inspiring the entire family with her dedication and focus. Similarly, the twins enjoy a variety of sports, especially football, and are the best of friends. On days off, the family enjoys being home just hanging out. According to Jade, “As long as we are together, our hearts are full!”
Not only is Jade passionate about her family and her art, she is equally passionate about supporting worthy causes in her community. A few years ago Jade was moved by a tragic accident near her hometown in Canada. She was inspired to help the families who had suffered great loss as a result. Hearts are Jade’s signature piece, so she created a unique heart in support of the cause and donated 100% of the proceeds from it’s sale to the affected families.
Jade titled this effort the Passion Project, because her passion to give back motivates the creation of her amazing handcrafted jewelry. Over the last few years Jade has conducted six separate projects in support of causes such as Downie Wenjack and The Innocence Project. Jade has a heart for giving and sums it up by saying, “It is incredibly fulfilling knowing that you can make a difference in the lives of others. We are all able to inspire others by raising awareness to a need.”
Jade is currently working with several other female entrepreneurs and creative small business owners to plan the 2nd Shop For a Cause Event here in the valley. This evening of shopping and making new friends will culminate in donating a percent of the proceeds to a worthy cause. Moreover, Jade envisions this event growing into something special, an event citizens of the valley can look forward to every year. She simply states, “When we show up and support one another, the feeling is just magical.”
By serving others Jade hopes to inspire her children to reach out and make a difference in their community. “We can all play a part in helping one another, and that’s what matters most. When the motive is helping others, even the smallest effort is worthwhile.”
When asked how she defines success, Jade gave this answer, “success comes from being able to create what you love every day.” May we all be inspired by Jade to do what we love and support the needs in our community by buying local.
