. . . . love and logic . . . .

 

There are some families that I come across that make me stop and think, “they really must have done something right.”

In fact, when I got done taking pictures of this family, I pulled the mom and asked her.

“What did you do,” I asked, “to parent these children in a way that would make them such good friends as adults.  They are all so kind, and really seem to love being with one another!  She smiled and told me that they parented through love and logic.  Oh! how it encouraged me as a mom.  She may not have known it, but it spoke to my heart – giving me freedom as a parent to not get so wrapped up in what I think is “right,” but to really just take the time to love them – each of them as individuals!

One other thing that I loved about this family is that they really wanted to show their fun and playful side.  They wanted some good traditional family pictures, but their personalities couldn’t really shine though, so they brought some bright colors, some bubbles, and a lot of laughs to the latter part of our time together!  What a fabulous idea!
