Last week, in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, our family had green eggs and ham for dinner. We decorated our kitchen will all the Dr. Seuss’ books that we could get our hands on, and we printed up famous sayings from his many books.
We still have them hanging today.
There are so many of them that I love.
“You’re in pretty good shape for the shape you are in.” “Fun is good.” “In my world, everyone’s a pony and they all eat rainbows and poop butterflies!” “Only you can control your future.” “I’m afraid that sometimes you’ll play lonely games too. Games you can’t win’cause you’ll play against you.”
There are so many of them that make me stop and think.
One quote that I have hanging from my coffee pot says, “How did it get so late so soon?”
I have been shooting a lot of newborn baby pictures lately, and when I am looking at them, that is what I am thinking. My son is now thirteen, and I still feel like I just graduated from high school. In fact everything since then feels like a blur, and I wonder to myself, “How did it get so late so soon?”
I hope these newborn pictures will cherished forever by this sweet baby girl’s parents, because I know there will come a time when the middle of the night feedings will end, the contant neediness will stop, and they will wonder to themselves, where did the time go? How did we get here? How did it get so late so soon?
So, all of you with newborn babies . . . breathe them in . . .
Oh? and are you loving these newborn baby hats and props that have been showing up in these pictures? They were made for me by my dear friend, Jessica Hudson. She does amazing mosaic work – actually is an extremely talented artist in many facets. I am so honored to call her my friend. Thanks, Jess!
